Meet the Commissioner

Dr. Imoh Udo Moffat is the Commissioner for Science and Technology. He was born on the 10th of April, 1968 to the family of late Snr. Elder Nwosu Moffat Udo of Ikot Ikpa village, Eka Uruk Eshiet in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. He is the seventh derivative of a matrimonial function of degree nine. He is linearly married and the union is blessed with five variables. He is a functional Christian by faith.

He started his primary education in 1974 at Q.I.C Group School, Uruk/Ikono and completed in 1980 with an outstanding result. Thereafter, he started his Secondary education at Samuel Bill Theological College (Secondary Division), Abak, from 1980 to 1983 and then completed at Community Secondary School, Eka Uruk Eshiet, where he obtained the best WAEC results in the pioneer class of 1985.

He gained admission into the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Calabar, Calabar in 1988 where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (B. Sc) degree in Mathematics & Statistics in 1992.

By the special grace of God, he recorded another remarkable achievement by emerging the best graduating student of the Department and won the following prizes/awards:
– The Vice – Chancellor’s Prize endowed in perpetuity as an annual award for the best graduating Student in Mathematics.
– Engr.(Dr.) Edet J. Amana’s Prize endowed in perpetuity as an annual award for the best graduating Student in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
– Chief Donatus Etiebet’s Prize endowed in perpetuity as an annual award for the Best graduating Student in Mathematics and Statistics.

He served at the Command Secondary School, Kaduna, during the National Youth Service scheme with special relief duties at the Nigerian Defence Academy (N. D. A), Kaduna and the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Thereafter, he was offered an appointment as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Mathematics, Statistics & Computer Science, University of Uyo, Uyo in 1994.

He obtained a Master of Science (M. Sc.) degree in Mathematical Statistics in 2000 from the University of Calabar, Calabar, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D) degree in Applied Statistics from the River State University of Science & Technology in 2008.

He was promoted a Senior Lecturer in 2011 and functionally appraised for the position of Associate Professor in Time Series Analysis/Stochastic Processes in 2015.

In the aspect of contributions to knowledge, he has about fifty publications in reputable journals within and outside the country in addition to teaching some undergraduate and postgraduate courses. He is a Member/partial derivative of the Nigerian Statistical Association (NSA), Mathematical Association of Nigeria, and Nigerian Environmental Society (NES).

As a symbol of linear equations and functional approximations from above, he functions linearly as a Del operator/Robust estimator in the Quadrant of Functional Variables and the Quadrant of Exponential Derivatives.
